Janet Metson Urman is a licensed architect who received her B.A. from UCLA and a Masters in Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture.  She worked in several Los Angeles design firms before opening her own office specializing in residential architecture.  Her residential designs express the vocabulary of the local California architecture and lifestyle through a modern lens.

Metson Urman Architecture provides complete architectural services from as-built documentation through construction administration.  Interior and landscape design services are available also.  Janet has many years of experience with government agencies, and a cohort of skilled contractors with whom she regularly works.

Janet’s design aesthetic is based on the belief that the unique qualities of each site, house, and client inform the architectural response to a particular design problem.  A successful project is one that blends functional programmatic needs and the complex details of modern life to create a beautiful, memorable home suited to the climate, landscape, and culture of contemporary California.  Her ability to produce successful work has brought repeat commissions from lasting client relationships, and new projects via word-of-mouth referral.
