This 1920s Spanish-style estate located in the flats of Beverly Hills is comprised of an original 4,700 sq. ft. residence and a 1,600 sq. ft. accessory building. The structures had not been updated or maintained for several decades. The residence’s design program included a 1,800-square-foot addition containing a large family room/kitchen and a new dining room, plus reconfiguring the layout of the entire first floor. The home’s second story contains a primary suite and two more ensuite bedrooms. The existing two-story accessory structure was demolished and then replaced with a new 1,400 sq. ft. building containing a three-car garage and pool house located on the rear property line. Between the residence and pool house is the extensive, remodeled backyard containing a new pool, spa, and water feature; a large outdoor terrace; a variety of gardens, and a large area for the clients’ two Bernese Mountain dogs to play. The exterior design of the structures maintains the traditional Spanish style, while the interiors have an updated, comfortable, and natural palate of materials. The project has drought-tolerant planting, a solar PV system, and the latest electronic smart home technology. Construction began in November 2021 and is expected to be completed in April 2024.
