Janet Metson Urman is a licensed architect who received her B.A. from UCLA and a Masters in Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture. She worked in several Los Angeles architecture firms before opening her own office specializing in residential architecture.
The firm provides complete architectural services from as-built documentation through construction administration. Interior and landscape design services are available also.
Janet's design aesthetic is based on the belief that the unique qualities of each site, house, and client inform the architectural response to a particular design problem. A successful project is one that blends functional programmatic needs with the intangible qualities of light, volume, and the complex details of modern life.
Among her volunteer activities, Janet was a Wexner Heritage Foundation Fellow and chaired the board of her children's school for three years. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and children.
